How to filter YouTube search results for just USA?

How to filter YouTube search results for just USA?

Google search of that question shows:
Settings > General > Location > Select your country,

but I've done that and still searching a word or phrase on YT doesn't get me just USA results only.

Any ideas regarding how to do this?

Smashing Workshops: Winter 2021

For many of us, personal workspace can feel quite comfortable and convenient, but nobody really wants to sign up for another full day of focused screen time. That’s why we break our online Smashing workshops down into 2.5h-sessions — with one session per day. This way, you always have enough time take it all in, try things out, rewatch a session or raise questions between sessions.

We’re super thrilled to announce the full program of workshops for the next months to come:

Our online workshops take place live and span multiple days across weeks. In every session, there is always enough time to bring up your questions or just get a cup of tea. We don’t rush through the content, but instead, try to create a welcoming, friendly and inclusive environment for everyone to have time to think, discuss and get feedback.

There are plenty of things to expect from a Smashing workshop, but the most important one is focusing on practical examples and techniques. The workshops aren’t talks; they are interactive, with live conversations with attendees, sometimes with challenges, homework and team work. Of course, you get all workshop materials and video recordings as well, so if you miss a session you can re-watch it the same day.

December Update: COVID-19 Exposure Apps In the USA

In the final two months of 2020, national attention turned to election results and the final FDA approval of vaccines. Today in medical facilities, the cries for preventative measures still ring out as ICUs have reached critical mass with COVID-19 patients, and vaccines have begun the nascent stages of rollout. This article covers state-sponsored COVID-19 exposure and contact-tracing apps launched in the US during November/December 2020.

Rachel Andrew

We’ve been running SmashingConf since 2012, when we held our very first conference in Freiburg, Germany. Since then, we’ve continued to experiment and improve on our conference experience. Our aim is that you enjoy your time with us, but also return to work with new insights and knowledge. Each time we hope to leave you with practical takeaways that will help you in your own work and want to share with your team.

What is a SmashingConf like? It’s hard to explain until you have been there, however ,this video compilation from Toronto might just give you an idea!

Experimenting With Presentation Formats

Back in 2018, we began to experiment with the live-coding format. While not every presentation at SmashingConf was live-coded, many presenters brought a live element to their talk. Some speakers opted to present without slides completely, and these interactive sessions have been incredibly popular with audiences. Being able to watch an expert doing their work, seeing the tools they use and the choices they make in real time, brought many subjects to life.

“I love the fact that this talk format also kind of rid me of the expectation that it needed to be flawless.”

Sara Soueidan

Many of our speakers enjoyed the chance to try something different on stage; some have gone so far as to decide to make live-coding part of how they present in the future.

“I didn’t expect this, but I’m now seriously considering this format as a way I do talks at other conferences.”

Dan Mall

Not every talk fits a live-coding format, of course. Throughout 2019, we feel that we’ve found a great balance of practical live-coded (or live-designed) sessions, more traditional presentations with slides, and some which have mixed the two approaches. SmashingConf audiences are a mixture of designers and developers, of visual thinkers and those who learn best from seeing a lot of code.

As Dan Mall noted in his write-up of his live-coded talk:

“A few designers felt validated in their processes by seeing mine [...]

“A few developers said design felt less intimidating now, both to understand as well as to try.”

In mixing up the formats as well as the subjects being discussed, we hope to bring parts of the industry to life — even for those who don’t normally work in that area.

In addition to playing with the format of presentations, we encourage audiences to engage with the speakers and each other. Talks are followed by an interview on stage — with the emcee posing questions asked by the audience. We publish a live Google Doc, so everyone can share their thoughts and ideas with the speakers as well as each other. Most of our speakers will attend the entire event, and enjoy the chance to chat with attendees. We believe everyone has useful knowledge to share — whether on stage or from the comfort of your seat!

Looking Forward To 2020

SmashingConf has always taken a holistic approach to the web. We believe that we all do better work when we work together and understand something of the roles of other team members. In 2020, we hope to build on the successes of 2019 by continuing to bring you some of the best live sessions — mixed with case studies, opportunities for networking, and surfacing some topics that are sometimes forgotten when focusing on design and development! We’ll cover topics such as HTML email, internationalization and localization, how to provide more accurate estimates, privacy, security, refactoring, debugging and the way designers and developers think as they work through their tasks and challenges.

We’re currently working hard on curating the line-up for all of the events next year. So, the big question is… where will you join us?

San Francisco, Freiburg, New York Or Austin!

The Smashing Cat will soon be on its way to Austin for the first time. We’re really excited about heading to Texas and about our events in cities we already know and love. Over the next few months, we’ll be announcing speakers and schedules for all of the events, but early-bird tickets are already available for San Francisco, Austin, and Freiburg 2020.

This year’s events have all been sold out well in advance of the conference dates, so mark the following dates in your calendars, have a chat with your boss, and work out where you will be heading to spend a fun and educational few days with the Smashing crew!

11 Top Advertising APIs

Online advertising can be a complicated world for developers. There are many options and platforms, and not exactly any stringent industry standards (at least in the USA) for advertising.

What is a VPN and why you should use it whenever you go online

In most colleges, Wi-Fi connections are always public and you need to use them to complete your college papers online without anyone accessing them. Most systems are integrated with VPN to ensure secure connections between computers and allow access from home. It connects a smartphone, PC, or tablet with a server on the internet, and the server allows you to browse using its internet. So if the server is located in a different country, your browsing activity is registered as coming from the resident country of the VPN and it will help you access information that was initially restricted in your country.

How it works

A VPN can be available from your workplace or you can create one for yourself or host one. Acquiring it is not complicated because you just need to sign up with any of the many sites readily offering the service, and to research on which VPN best works for you then settle on one. Download it and start using it.

When your device or computer is connected to a VPN they act to be on the same network with the VPN. This way you can be sure that all your network traffic is secure. This means you can access local network resources from the original location of the VPN. This is beneficial since you access geographically restricted sites and when you are on public Wi-Fi you can connect without much concern since you are secure. For example, depending on which country you’re located in, if you want to access Netflix you might need to acquire a VPN based in the USA and you will easily access Netflix as your connection will be from within the USA.

Why you should use it whenever you go online

It improves your connection’s security

We sometimes see it in movies and series that people can hack into the system and watch your every move online. That’s just acting, but in the real sense, it happens. It is easy for rogue attackers to access your connection and monitor all that you do online. Though public Wi-Fi networks are more susceptible to such attacks, it does not mean you are safe on other connections either. If you are looking for a reliable and fast Wi-Fi network, some connections can cause you more damage than good. Instead of risking everything you have it is better to add a VPN to your connection to be safe. The encryption used keeps you safe from snooping eyes when online. It hides your emails, online transactions and browsing history from attackers.

It bypasses restrictions by defeating censorship

Most networks have terms & conditions that you need to agree to before you can use them and in this case what you can access over the networks is limited. Some countries also censor information that can be accessed online on their websites. When choosing a VPN, consider the country you are choosing and any restrictions they might have set. Some countries have started clamping down VPNs to maintain censorship within their countries. Using VPN allows you to access restricted sites from different locations, but if you realize problems with the connection you can change to another in a different location.

It stops tracking

It is not a wonder that Google or Facebook track your activities online bringing friend suggestions and advertisements that suit you. These profiles are easily sold to advertisers. VPN encrypts data that you send across and scrambles it making it impossible for the message to be intercepted by a third party. The website you are on cannot track you down and your browsing history and search terms are hidden. If you are logged onto your Facebook and Google accounts you might be at risk of them storing your movements, so minimize this by using anonymous search engines.

It keeps you away from surveillance

It seems it is not only the social networks that are interested in knowing what you are up to but even the government wants to know about it. Some leaked reports show that some governments are prying on their citizens wanting to know what they are doing, the messages they send online and even phone calls they make. VPN is very handy in such instances because it turns all your data to nonsense by decrypting it. However, if the government asks for the encrypted messages, be sure that your VPN provider will supply that information to them.

VPN is an easy way to improve your online security when accessing different sites such as ewritingservice.com. However, you need to be careful of free VPNs – some are out to make a profit without proper provision of service required. Some providers also fake locations so intensive research is needed before you commit to any particular one. A good VPN is simple with great speed and good functionality.
