9 Best WordPress Product Comparison Plugins (Compared)

Are you looking for a way to compare products on your WordPress website?

Whether you have a blog site or an eCommerce store, allowing customers to compare different products helps them find the right product. They can look at different features, prices, specifications, and more side by side.

In this article, we will show you the best WordPress product comparison plugins.

Best WordPress product comparison plugins

Why Use a WordPress Product Comparison Plugin?

Sadly, WordPress and WooCommerce do not offer a built-in feature to put 2 or more products side by side. You’d have to enter a custom code to add the functionality and use custom CSS to style the comparison table.

Product comparison plugins make it very easy to add a comparison feature to your WordPress site without editing code. They also offer more flexibility and customization options.

Adding a product comparison feature helps users find the right product. For instance, if you have an online store that sells smartphones, then visitors can compare multiple phones together and pick the one that’s best for them.

13 Ways to Increase WooCommerce Sales (Actionable Tips)

Are you looking for ways to increase WooCommerce sales?

A successful online store needs to continuously find ways to increase WooCommerce sales. However, sometimes, it may not look as easy as you would like it to be.

In this article, we’ll share tested and actionable tips on ways to quickly increase WooCommerce sales with little effort and no special skills.

Actionable tips to increase sales in WooCommerce

Why Optimize WooCommerce to Increase Sales?

According to Forbes, e-commerce sales grew by 10.8% in 2023. In the US alone, eCommerce sales are expected to cross over $1.1 Trillion in 2023.

As more and more transactions are moving online, there is a ton of room for your eCommerce business to grow and capture your share of the pie.

WooCommerce is the most popular eCommerce platform in the world. It is super easy to use and incredibly flexible to build any kind of online store.

Out of the box, WooCommerce gives you plenty of tools to increase sales. However, there is so much more you can do.

  • Make a faster online store
  • Improve your store’s shopping experience.
  • Optimize your sales funnels
  • Create a frictionless checkout experience for your customers.

Not optimizing your WooCommerce store to increase sales is like leaving money on the table.

Many of these tips don’t require technical or coding knowledge and can be easily implemented in your WooCommerce store.

That being said, let’s look at some of the most actionable and practical tips to increase WooCommerce sales.

1. Get Better WooCommerce Hosting

First, you need to make sure that your online store is running on the best WooCommerce hosting platform available.

An unreliable hosting platform can affect your store’s performance, slow it down, or cause frequent downtimes. This affects your store’s user experience, SEO, and sales.

Switching to a better WooCommerce hosting plan gives your store stability and a performance boost, which ultimately leads to better user experience and higher conversions.

If you are just starting out, then we recommend using Bluehost. They are one of the officially recommended WooCommerce hosting providers.

Bluehost website

They are offering WPBeginner users a generous discount, with a free domain and SSL certificate.

Basically, you can get started for $2.75 per month.

However, if your WooCommerce store is already up and generating revenue, then you may consider upgrading to a managed WordPress hosting plan on SiteGround or WP Engine.

Need help moving your WooCommerce store to a new host? See our tutorial on how to easily move WordPress to new host for step-by-step instructions.

2. Improve WooCommerce Performance

Slower websites are one of the top reasons for lower conversions and sales.

A recent case study of eCommerce websites uncovered that a one-second delay in page load could reduce conversions by up to 7%.

Strangeloop case study

WooCommerce runs on top of WordPress, which generates content from a database when users visit your store.

If more users visit your website at the same time, then this adds more load on your hosting server, which slows it down and causes you to lose potential sales.

Luckily, there is an easy way to mitigate this issue by using a caching plugin on your WooCommerce store.

We recommend using WP Rocket. It is the best WordPress caching plugin on the market.

WP Rocket dashboard

It is super easy to set up. Once you install and activate the plugin, it will automatically start building a cache in the background.

WP Rocket will also detect that you are using WooCommerce and apply eCommerce settings. For instance, it will exclude checkout, cart, and account pages from the cache.

While caching alone will give your website a significant performance boost, there is a lot more you can do to speed up your WooCommerce store.

For more details, see our complete WordPress performance guide for beginners, which has more tips to improve WooCommerce speed.

3. Set up WooCommerce SEO

More than 85% of consumers search before making an online purchase.

Organic search results get 20x more clicks than paid ads, and they cost way less (because they’re almost free).

This is why you need to focus on improving WooCommerce SEO to get more sales on your website.

Now, WooCommerce itself is very SEO friendly, but there is a lot more you can do to get more organic traffic and increase sales.

First, install and activate the All in One SEO for WordPress plugin. For more details, see our step-by-step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

It is the best WordPress SEO plugin on the market and comes with powerful WooCommerce integration.

AIOSEO

It is super easy to use and makes technical SEO simple for beginners. Once set up, it would automatically assign the correct Schema markup for your product pages.

You would also get a complete site-wide SEO audit, TruSEO score for your product pages, product XML sitemaps, and more.

For more details, see our complete WooCommerce SEO guide, which has more detailed instructions.

4. Use Proper Schema Markup for Products

Schema markup is a special type of HTML code that you can add to your WooCommerce store and tell search engines more about your content or products.

Schema markup example

Search engines like Google can then use this data in search results. Such search listings are called rich results or rich snippets.

These listings get more prominently displayed and get more clicks, which ultimately brings more sales to your WooCommerce store.

All in One SEO already comes with built-in support for Schema markup. However, many beginners don’t realize how powerful this tool is, and they end up not utilizing it to its full potential.

First, you need to visit the All in One SEO » Search Appearance page and then switch to the Content Types tab.

All in One SEO - Search Appearance

From here, you need to scroll down to the Products section and click on the Schema Markup tab.

Make sure that it is using Product as the Schema Type. This will be the default setting for any WooCommerce products from now on.

Products schema type

After that, when you edit any product on your WooCommerce store, the schema type will already be set.

You can check this by going into the content editor for a product, and then scrolling down to the AIOSEO Settings section. Then, just click on the Schema tab.

Setting product schema markup

Make sure that the Product is selected in the Schema In Use section. You can click on the Generate Schema button to select a different Schema if you need. You can use more than one schema type if you need to, but that doesn’t happen often.

Click on the Edit button next to the Schema type to see the information you are providing as Schema markup.

Schema details

By default, the plugin will auto-generate data from your product content to use in schema markup.

You can switch the Autogenerate Fields option to ‘No’ and review all the data manually.

Schema details

From here, you can provide schema details manually.

To learn more, take a look at our beginner’s guide to Schema markup.

5. Perform Proper Keyword Research for Product Pages

Keywords are the terms users type in search engines to look for information.

Learning what keywords users will try can help you optimize your product pages for those keywords.

The easiest way to start with keyword research is by using WPBeginner’s Keyword Generator Tool (free).

You can start by typing a generic term for your product and clicking Analyze button.

Keyword generator tool example

It will then start generating relevant keyword suggestions.

More generic keywords will have a higher search volume, but they will also be difficult to rank for.

Keyword ideas

Ideally, you would want to focus on keywords that are more relevant to your product, have lower competition, and have significant search volume.

To learn more, see our tutorial on how to do keyword research for beginners.

Once you have found the keywords that you want to target, you can edit your product in WooCommerce.

Under the AIOSEO Settings section, set your main keyword as the Focus Keyphrase.

Setting focus keyphrase in AIOSEO

Below that, you can add more keywords as additional keyphrases.

As soon as you enter a focus keyphrase, All in One SEO will show you an SEO score with tips on improving your content.

Focus keyphrase SEO score

Apply the recommended changes to your product content to optimize it for your target keywords.

You can also try out other SEO tools like Semrush (paid), Keyword Generator, or AnswerThePublic for your keyword research.

6. Optimize Product Category Pages

Product category pages can be an important source of traffic for many online stores.

All in One SEO allows you to easily optimize your product category pages.

Simply go to the Products » Categories page and click on the Edit link below a category that you want to optimize.

Edit product category

On the edit screen, scroll down to the AIOSEO Settings section.

From here, you can provide an SEO title and description and choose a social media image.

7. Ranking for Local Search Results

According to research, more than 46% of all Google searches are looking for local information.

Even for online shopping, customers may add location along with their keywords to ensure a quick delivery.

If you have one or more retail locations, then ranking for local SEO will bring you more targeted traffic with higher purchase intent.

Local SEO example

You will need All in One SEO’s Local SEO addon to set up your online store for local SEO.

Simply go to the All in One SEO » Local SEO page to activate the Local SEO feature.

Once activated, you can go ahead and add your business information.

Business information for local SEO

You can provide your business address, logo, map location, and other information.

The phone number you provide here may appear in search results with a call button. You should use a proper business phone number to easily manage customer calls.

Next, you need to switch to the Opening Hours tab. Here, you can provide your business hours.

Opening hours

If you need to display map locations on your website, then you can switch to the Maps tab and provide the Google Maps API key.

8. Reduce Cart Abandonment with OptinMonster

Once users have added products to their cart, you would want to make sure that they complete the checkout to make the purchase.

However, more than 70% of shopping carts are abandoned without completing the purchase (Source: Ecommerce Statistics: Key Insights Every Business Should Know).

Luckily, there are tools like OptinMonster. It is the best conversion optimization software for WooCommerce and helps you convert website visitors into paying customers.

OptinMonster comes with Exit Intent popups that help you show custom messages to users when they are about to leave.

10. Upsell on Cart, Checkout, and Thank You Pages

Have you noticed how all the big eCommerce giants like Amazon try to upsell products when viewing your cart, checking out, or after you have made the purchase?

Amazon cart example

That’s because research has proven that if customers are shown the right products when they are about to pay, they are more likely to add them to the cart.

This is also the reason you see random things at the checkout counters of all the retail shops as well. Many of us can probably recall a recent time when we added one or more products to our cart while at the counter.

It is very effective, and you can easily implement it in your WooCommerce store to boost sales.

You can create custom cart, checkout, and thank you pages in SeedProd.

11. Set up Email Marketing in WooCommerce

A recent survey found that more than 51% of consumers prefer to be contacted by brands through email.

Email is preferred over social media, mail, phone calls, or even text messages.

As an eCommerce store, if a customer doesn’t make a purchase and leaves, you have no way to reach out to that customer.

That’s more than 70% of all your website traffic.

Email marketing allows you to reach potential customers and stay in touch with your existing customers.

The easiest way to get started with email marketing is by using Constant Contact.

It is the best email marketing service for small businesses and beginners. It is easy to set up and comes with powerful tools you’ll need to grow your WooCommerce store.

They work across devices (mobile and desktop) and are highly effective in increasing page views and sales.

The easiest way to get started is by using PushEngage. It is the best push notification service on the market that is beginner-friendly and incredibly powerful.

PushEngage

PushEngage comes with targeting rules that allow you to send personalized notifications to users at just the right time.

For instance, you can set up cart abandonment campaigns, new product announcements, trigger notifications based on user activity, and more.

For detailed instructions, see our tutorial on how to easily add web push notifications to your website.

13. Use Social Persuasion to Increase Sales

Users are more likely to buy something when they see other people doing the same.

In psychology, this behavior is known as fear of missing out or FOMO, and it causes anxiety about missing out on something exciting and trendy.

In marketing, it is easy to trigger this effect by using social persuasion. There are several ways you can use these persuasion techniques to boost sales.

The easiest way would be by using TrustPulse. It is the best social proof app for marketers and eCommerce stores.

TrustPulse

It allows you to show customer activity on your site with targeted notifications. Users will see what other, real people are doing and purchasing on your site.

You can display notifications on precise locations like product pages, sales campaigns, or landing pages. You can also trigger them based on user activity.

7 Best WooCommerce Point of Sale Plugins (Easy POS Setup)

Are you looking for a point-of-sale plugin for WooCommerce?

WooCommerce isn’t just useful for online stores. By adding a point of sale (POS) plugin to your website, you can also sell your products in a physical store and make more profits.

In this article, we will share the best WooCommerce POS plugins for easy point-of-sale setup.

Best WooCommerce Point of Sale Plugins (Easy POS Setup)

Why Do You Need a Point of Sale System?

You can think of a point of sale (POS) system as a modern cash register that runs on software. It allows you to take payments from customers in person, like in a physical store, a mobile food truck, or when selling merchandise at an event.

Like a cash register, you and your staff can use a POS system to ring up products, display the total cost to the customer, allow them to pay, and make a receipt or invoice.

But most POS systems don’t stop there. You can choose a system that offers the features you need, such as automatically adjusting your stock levels as products are purchased, keeping sales statistics so that you know what is selling and what isn’t, or working offline.

You might be thinking about purchasing one or more dedicated POS terminals for your business. However, these are expensive, and most require paying for an ongoing subscription for the software you need to run the terminal.

A better choice is to use WooCommerce, the world’s most popular eCommerce platform. It is super-flexible, cost-effective, and easy to manage, even for beginners. It allows you to sell products online from your WordPress website and in-person using a POS plugin.

The best part is that by installing a WooCommerce POS plugin, you have an inexpensive point-of-sale system that can be used at physical stores on any computer or tablet that runs a modern web browser.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the best POS plugins for WooCommerce.

1. YITH Point of Sale for WooCommerce (POS)

YITH Point of Sale for WooCommerce (POS) Preview

YITH Point of Sale for WooCommerce comes with layouts for both desktop and mobile devices. Like most POS plugins, the mobile layout is suitable for iPads and Android tablets but not smartphones.

Pros

  • Unlimited stores and registers
  • Layouts for desktop and mobile devices
  • Useful sales statistics

Cons

  • Free version is limited to cash payments
  • Does not work offline

Why we recommend YITH POS: YITH makes powerful plugins that are affordable and easy to use. Their POS plugin includes the features most stores need and supports multiple stores.

What Is the Best WooCommerce POS Plugin?

After reviewing all of the popular point-of-sale systems for WooCommerce, we believe that YITH Point of Sale for WooCommerce (POS) is the best POS plugin for most local stores.

However, this choice depends on your needs and budget, so we have a few additional recommendations.

Our top recommendation doesn’t work offline. If you need to take payments at times when there may not be an internet connection, such as on a food truck, then your best options are Hike POS, Vitepos, and ConnectPOS.

Some users prefer to get started with a free solution that’s easy to set up, and in that case, we recommend Square for WooCommerce. But be aware that with fees for each transaction, you may pay more in the long term.

If you have a franchise or chain of stores, then you will need YITH Point of Sale for WooCommerce (POS) or Hike POS. And if you have very specific needs and a budget for complex customizations, then it’s worth considering ConnectPOS.

In this article, we will show you how to add express checkout buttons in WooCommerce.

How to add express checkout buttons in WooCommerce

Why Add Express Checkout in WooCommerce?

Adding express checkout to your WooCommerce store provides a better shopping experience for your customers.

It allows customers to go directly to the payment page and skip the shopping cart or checkout pages. They also won’t have to go to a payment provider page or fill out a checkout form to complete their purchases.

Express checkout buttons make the entire buying process quicker. Customers can simply click the buttons and log in to pay for the products they wish to buy in an instant. As a result, you may see a boost in conversions and fewer abandoned carts.

Adding express checkout also helps mobile users where their screen sizes are small. Customers will just tap the buttons to quickly purchase the products.

However, WooCommerce doesn’t offer an express checkout option by default. You will need to use a WooCommerce plugin to add the feature to your online store.

How to Add Product Questions And Answers in WooCommerce

Are you looking to add a product question and answer section in WooCommerce?

Adding a Q&A section enables customers to ask questions about the product before buying it, and see the questions and answers of other customers. This helps recover abandoned cart sales and improve customer engagement in your store, and reduce support requests.

In this article, we’ll show you how to easily add product questions and answers in WooCommerce.

How to add product questions and answers in WooCommerce

Why Should You Add Product Q&A in WooCommerce

You may have noticed the product question-and-answer section on popular eCommerce websites like Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and more.

Target Q&A example

Adding a product questions and answers section allows customers to ask questions about a product right there on the product page.

You or your customers can then answer that question and it becomes visible to all other new customers who may have the same question in mind.

Over a period of time, your product page will have its own frequently asked questions section, which will help increase sales and reduce abandoned cart rates.

Adding a question and answers section to your online store also allows you to curate user-generated content which improves your WooCommerce product search rankings.

That being said, let’s see how you can easily add product questions and answers to WooCommerce.

1. Adding a Product Q&A Section Using a Premium Plugin

How to Add Country Restriction for WooCommerce Products

Recently one of our readers asked if it was possible to restrict countries in your WooCommerce store?

By hiding your WooCommerce store from specific countries, you can control your product visibility around the world. That way, your products will only be available in specific countries.

In this article, we will show you how to easily add country based restriction to WooCommerce products or even your entire WooCommerce store.

How to Restrict Countries in WooCommerce

Why Restrict Your WooCommerce Store in a Country?

When selling products online, an online store owner can come across a lot of problems. For example, you can get a product order from a country where that product is illegal, or your payment gateways can’t process fees.

When building a WooCommerce store, it is important to provide the best user experience to your customers. You don’t want the customer to place an order only to find out that they can’t complete their purchase.

This can result in customer frustration, and it can keep them from ever coming back to your site or buying something else from you.

To avoid these kinds of situations, it is better to restrict access to your WooCommerce store or products from specific countries.

With that being said, let’s take a look at how you easily can restrict your WooCommerce store and products in specific countries.

You can jump to either method by clicking the links below:

Method 1. Restricting Countries Using WooCommerce Settings

You can easily hide your online store in specific countries using WooCommerce default settings.

First, go ahead and click on the WooCommerce » Settings option in your WordPress dashboard and then go to the ‘General’ tab.

Go to WooCommerce Settings and select General

Once there, scroll down to the ‘General Options.’ Here you will find the ‘Selling Location’ section. Simply click on the dropdown menu in the field where you will find three options.

You can either select the ‘Sell to specific countries, except for…’ option, or you can choose the ‘ Sell to specific countries’ option.

Go to General Option and select Selling Location

When you select the ‘Sell to specific countries, except for…’ option, another field will appear.

Now, just select from the dropdown any countries where you don’t want to sell your products.

Select countries where you don't want to sell your product

If you’ve chosen the ‘Sell to specific countries’ option, a ‘Sell to specific countries’ field will appear in the settings below.

Now you can select all the countries where your store will be available.

Select countries where you want to sell your product

This method is very easy to use, and you don’t have to download any additional WooCommerce plugins for it.

The main downside of this method is that you cannot hide specific products.

By restricting countries using the default settings method in WooCommerce, the restrictions will be applied to your whole online store, and users in those countries won’t be able to buy any of your products.

If you only want to hide some specific products in different countries, it is better to use a plugin mentioned in Method 2. Let’s take a look at how to restrict specific WooCommerce products in different countries.

Method 2. Add Country Based Restrictions for WooCommerce Products

The best way to hide your store products in some specific countries is by using a WordPress plugin like the Country Based Restrictions For WooCommerce.

It is a free WooCommerce plugin that allows you to hide your products in specific countries.

First, you’ll need to install and activate the ‘Country Based Restrictions For WooCommerce’ plugin. For more details, please take a look at our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

After you’ve activated the plugin, go to Plugins » Installed Plugins.

Go to the country based restrictions for WooCommerce plugin settings

Here, click on the ‘Settings’ link in the ‘Country Based Restrictions for WooCommerce’ entry.

Once you’re on the ‘Settings’ page, just click on the ‘Catalog Visibility’ option.

Choose Catalog Visibility option

After you’ve clicked on the ‘Catalog Visibility’ option, you will have 3 choices:

  • Hide Completely – Restricted products will not appear in your store.
  • Hide Catalog Visibility – Restricted products will only be available by direct links, but not through browsing or search results.
  • Catalog Visible (non purchasable) – Restricted products will appear as normal, but customers will be unable to purchase them.

Once you’ve chosen an option, simply click on the ‘Save Changes’ button.

Choose your Catalog Visibility option

Next, go to WooCommerce » All Products in your WordPress dashboard.

Locate the product that you want to restrict and simply click on the ‘Edit’ link.

Go to WooCommerce Products and select Edit

This will open the ‘Edit Product’ page. You can then scroll down to the ‘Product Data’ section.

Next, simply click on the ‘Country Restrictions’ option to the left.

Go to Product Data section and select Country Restrictions

After you’ve clicked on the ‘Country Restrictions’ option, you’ll see a ‘Restriction Rule’ field.

Simply click on the dropdown menu beside the field and select the ‘Product Not Available For Selected Countries’ option.

Select Product not available for selected countries option

After that, go to the ‘Select Countries’ field and click on the dropdown beside it.

Then, simply choose the countries where your product won’t be available for purchase.

Choose countries you want to restrict

Once you’re happy with your choice, don’t forget to click on the ‘Publish button.’

Now, if a customer from the chosen country visits your store, the product you’ve restricted won’t appear.

Are you looking for ways to upsell products on your WooCommerce store?

Upselling is a great way to boost your sales and earn more money. You can encourage customers to purchase a more expensive version of your product.

In this article, we’ll show you how to upsell products in WooCommerce.

How to upsell products in WooCommerce

Why Upsell Products in WooCommerce?

Upselling is a sales technique that you can use to encourage shoppers to purchase a higher-priced product instead of the one they already have in their shopping cart.

These products provide more value to your customers because they have higher quality, include more features, and are more lucrative for your business.

For example, let’s say a customer adds a hiking shoe to their cart. You can offer them higher-quality hiking shoes that are more comfortable, durable, and versatile. Similarly, if you’re selling software or plugins on your WooCommerce store, then you can offer upgrades and addons to customers.

Since upselling persuades customers to buy a higher-priced product, you get to increase your average order value and boost the revenue of your online store. It also helps to increase the visibility of products that aren’t purchased frequently.

That said, let’s see how you can upsell products in WooCommerce. We’ll cover multiple methods, so you can click the links below to jump ahead to your preferred section:

Did you know that you can upsell products by automatically adding them to the customer’s cart? For example, when a customer purchases over $200 worth of goods, you can give them a free gift bag.

With the help of the Advanced Coupons plugin, you can set up personalized coupons in WooCommerce and automatically add products to the cart when a coupon is applied.

You’ll need at least the Advanced Coupon Growth plan to add products via coupons. Once you’ve set up the plugin, go to Coupons » Add New from your WordPress dashboard.

Add a new coupon code

Next, you can enter a coupon code at the top or click the ‘Generate coupon code’ button to automatically create a random code.

After that, scroll down to the Coupon data section and switch to the ‘Add Products’ tab.

Add a product

From here, you can search for the product you’d like to automatically add to your cart when the coupon code is applied.

There are also options to set the order quantity and add a price or discount for the selected product.

Search for your product to add for coupon code

Once you’ve selected a product, click the ‘Add’ button.

You should see your product under the Add Products section. Don’t forget to click the ‘Save Add Products Data’ button.

Save your add products data

Besides that, Advanced Coupon also lets you set up cart conditions.

This way, you can set up rules for applying your coupon code. For example, the coupon code will only work if the cart quantity or subtotal is more than a certain amount, or a customer adds products from a specific category.

Add cart conditions

After setting up these conditions, you can publish your coupon code.

Now, your product will automatically add to the cart whenever a customer enters the discount coupon on checkout.

How to Create a Subscription Box Service in WordPress

Recently, one of our readers asked if it was possible to create a subscription box service in WordPress?

Subscription boxes are a popular way of selling physical goods that can be delivered on a regular basis. They work especially well in niche markets.

In this article, we’ll show you how to create a subscription box service in WordPress.

How to Create a Subscription Box Service in WordPress

What Is a Subscription Box Service?

A subscription box service is a smart way to bring in regular revenue from your online store with recurring deliveries of physical products.

Subscription boxes are more than just a delivery service. They offer a personalized experience of curated products that bring real value to your customers, such as variety, convenience, and saving money. They work well in niche markets and for boutique products.

For example, HelloFresh is a subscription box service where you can sign up to have meal ingredients delivered to your door every week. Other examples are the Dollar Shave Club and Bean Box, which offer grooming and coffee products in subscription boxes.

Bean Box Subscription Box Service

Subscription boxes are an effective way to make recurring revenue. They usually have a higher profit margin, and over 2/3s of consumers in the United States have tried them. The market seems to double each year.

With that said, let’s take a look at how to create a subscription box service using WordPress.

What Do You Need to Start a Subscription Box Business?

Starting a subscription box company is easier than you might think. You’ll need the following things:

  • A theme and target audience for your subscription box
  • A domain name (like wpbeginner.com)
  • A WordPress hosting plan to store your files and website data
  • Ecommerce and subscription box plugins to create and manage your products and subscriptions
  • An hour or two to set it all up.

That’s it!

We’ll walk you through every step of the process in this guide. If you get stuck or have any questions, just leave a comment below or see our guide on how to get WordPress support.

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Set Up Your WordPress Website

The best website builder platform to set up and manage your subscription box business is WordPress, because it’s free and gives you maximum control over your site. This is why over 43% of all websites on the internet use WordPress.

Often beginners make the mistake of choosing the wrong type of WordPress. There are actually two different types, which can be confusing.

You don’t want WordPress.com, which is a hosting service that can get expensive and limits the features you have access to.

The one we recommend is WordPress.org, also called self-hosted WordPress. It’s a completely free software that you install on your own hosting and domain. Don’t worry, that’s easier than it sounds.

To get started, you’ll need to get web hosting.

Normally, web hosting costs $7.99 per month, a domain name starts at $14.99 per year, and an SSL certificate costs around $69.99 per year.

This can be a big investment when you’re just starting out.

Luckily, Bluehost has agreed to offer our readers a big 60% discount on web hosting, plus a free domain name and SSL certificate.

Bluehost

Basically, you can get started for as low as $2.75 per month.

Simply click on the Bluehost button below, and the discount will automatically be applied.

After you get your hosting account, see our guide on how to create a WordPress website for step by step instructions.

Step 2: Create a Subscription Box Service in WordPress

After your WordPress site is set up, there are a few plugins you’ll need to install to create the subscription box service:

  • WooCommerce, the world’s most popular eCommerce plugin
  • WooCommerce Subscriptions, a WooCommerce extension for all kinds of paid subscriptions
  • Subscription Box for WooCommerce, an addon for the Subscriptions extension that lets your customers create their own boxes.

We will walk you through everything, step by step.

If you don’t have an online store yet, then we have a step by step guide on how to start your online store. This will walk you through the first part, installing WooCommerce.

Next, you need to install and activate the WooCommerce Subscriptions extension. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

WooCommerce Subscription Plugin

After installing the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin, you need to install and activate the Subscription Box for WooCommerce extension.

This extension adds features that make it easy to create a subscription box service, such as allowing your customers to create their own boxes and change their box plan.

WooCommerce Subscription Box Plugin

After you setup these plugins, you will also need to ensure that you have chosen a website template (also known as a theme). There are dozens of pre-made WooCommerce themes that you can pick from.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to make a custom website design for your store, then you need to use a drag & drop builder like SeedProd. It lets you create completely custom WordPress themes without any code.

Step 3: Add Subscription Box Products

Once your website is setup, the first thing you need to do is add a subscription box product to sell in your online store.

You’ll need to select Products » Add New from your admin menu and type a name for the subscription box.

Add a New WooCommerce Product

You should also fill in the normal WooCommerce product settings, such as a description, image, price, and shipping information.

Next, you need to configure the settings for your subscription box. You should scroll down to the ‘Product data’ section and select ‘Box Product’ from the drop down menu.

Select 'Box Product' from the Product Data Drop Down

This will add a new tab to the side menu where you can build a box.

You need to click on the new ‘Build a Box’ tab so you can configure the settings for your subscription box and what it will contain.

Navigate to the 'Build a Box' Tab

First, you need to type a number in the ‘Box Quantity’ field. This is the number of items your customers can place in the box. After that, you need to select how often the items will be delivered, such as daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.

Next, you need to choose a list of products that your customers can select when creating a custom box on your WordPress site. You can select those products individually in the ‘Products’ field, or simply add an entire product category, such as ‘Coffee’ or ‘Fruit’ in the ‘Product categories’ field.

Select the Products or Product Category That Can Be Added to the Box

You might like to choose products that have a similar price and weight. This will keep the total cost and weight of the box consistent, which will help when deciding how much to charge for the subscription box and for shipping.

Not everyone will want to take the time to choose products one by one. You can also create a standard box by selecting products in the ‘Default Products’ field.

Select the Products Contained in a Standard Box

To add items to the standard box, you need to search for the product you wish to add, type a quantity, then click the ‘Add To Default Product’ button. Simply repeat these steps until your subscription box is complete.

When you’re finished, don’t forget to click the ‘Publish’ button on the right of the screen to add the subscription box to your WooCommerce store.

If you’d like to add more than one subscription box, then simply repeat these steps.

Step 4: Display Subscription Boxes on Your Online Store

Next, you need to display your subscription boxes in your WooCommerce store.

Head over to Pages » Add New on your dashboard to create a new page. Give the page an engaging title, such as ‘Create a Subscription Box’ or ‘Build Your Own Bundle’.

Next, use the Columns block to add enough columns to display your subscription boxes.

Add Columns to Your Page

For each column, you’ll need to click the ‘+’ button and add a ‘Build a Box’ block.

Using the Block pane on the left, you can choose the subscription box you wish to display from the ‘Selected Box’ drop down menu.

Add a 'Build a Box' Block to Your Page

You can also type the other text that will be displayed, including the box heading and name, subscription label, and button label.

Once you’ve added all your subscription boxes, you’ll need to click the ‘Publish’ button at the top of the page to display them on your website.

When a customer clicks on a subscription box, they will be taken to the shop page for that box. Here they will see the list of products that you made available for this subscription box.

They can add individual products to the box by clicking the ‘Add to Box’ button under the product. They can also select how many of those products will be added.

Subscription Box Shop Page

Alternatively, they can click the ‘Add All’ button to create a standard box. Once they do that, all the default products will be added to the box.

Once the customer is happy with the box contents, they can check out.

How to Customize WooCommerce Emails (2 Easy Ways)

Do you want to customize the layout and design of your WooCommerce emails?

WooCommerce emails help customers get information about their order status, time of delivery, and more. Customizing these emails can get more conversions and help build your brand.

In this article, we’ll show you how to customize WooCommerce emails, and even create WooCommerce email automation to grow your sales.

How to customize WooCommerce emails

Why Customize Your WooCommerce Emails?

When running a WooCommerce store, your customers will receive different transactional emails. These emails help them get order confirmations, track their order status, get invoices, learn about how to return a product, and find more information about your online store.

By default, the design and layout of emails sent by WooCommerce are plain and generic. Most business owners don’t customize them and use the standard template, which looks like this:

WooCommerce Allows You to Preview the Email Template Containing Dummy Text

Customizing your WooCommerce email opens up a lot of opportunities. When your emails match your brand, it helps build trust with your customers, boost brand awareness, and get them to return to your store.

You can even include discount coupons, show popular products, or announce an upcoming sale in your WooCommerce emails. As a result, you’ll get more sales by encouraging people to purchase more products.

That said, let’s see how to customize your WooCommerce emails. We will cover two methods: default WooCommerce email settings, and a powerful email automation plugin for WooCommerce with drag & drop email customizer and workflow builder.

Customizing WooCommerce Emails using Global Settings

To edit the text and basic colors of your WooCommerce emails, you can use the default global settings in WooCommerce.

Simply head to WooCommerce » Settings from your WordPress admin panel and then click the ‘Email’ tab.

Go to email settings in WooCommerce

Here you’ll see all the emails WooCommerce sends to your customers, including emails for new orders, canceled orders, failed orders, orders refunded, password reset, new accounts, and more.

Next, you can scroll down to the Email sender options and Email template section. Under these sections, you’ll have options to edit the from name and email address.

Plus, you can customize your WooCommerce emails by adding a header image, footer text, changing the base color, background color, and body text color to match your brand.

Edit email template in WooCommerce

When you’re done, don’t forget to save your changes. Do note that these changes are global and will affect all your WooCommerce emails.

You can even preview the changes by clicking the ‘Click here to preview your email template’ link.

Here’s a preview of a customized WooCommerce email on our demo website:

Edited WooCommerce email template

WooCommerce also lets you customize each individual email.

In the Email tab in WooCommerce settings, you can click on any of the emails or click the ‘Manage’ button to see settings for a specific email.

Manage specific emails

After that, you can customize different elements of the email.

For example, enter a new email subject line, content, email heading, and email type.

Customize each email

Go ahead and click the ‘Save change’ button when you’re done.

Customizing WooCommerce Emails using Autonami

Another way you can customize your WooCommerce emails is by using Autonami which is a popular WooCommerce plugin for marketing automation.

Aside from letting you fully customize your WooCommerce emails, it also lets you setup smart automated follow up emails and workflows to boost your sales.

First, you’ll need to install and activate the Autonami plugin. For more details, please see our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, you can go to Autonami » Automations from your WordPress dashboard to see their ever-growing pre-built WooCommerce email library that’s proven to get results.

Autonami Email Library for WooCommerce

With a single click, you can import the entire email automation workflow with pre-written email copy, delay intervals, goals, and more.

Then you can use the visual email automation builder to make any customizations that you need. For example, here’s the workflow for the abandoned cart recovery email in WooCommerce.

Autonami - Abandoned Cart Email Workflow for WooCommerce

Autonami lets you customize any WooCommerce email and even create custom WooCommerce emails by using a drag & drop email builder inside WordPress.

You can go to Autonami » Templates from your WordPress dashboard and click the ‘Add New Email Template’ button.

Add new email template

Next, you can enter a name for your email template.

Simply click the ‘Add’ button to continue.

Enter a name for template

After that, the plugin will let you select a subject line for your email and a preview text.

Besides that, you can customize the content of your WooCommerce emails using 3 methods, including Rick Text, Raw HTML, or Visual Builder.

Go ahead and select the ‘Visual Builder’ option and click the ‘Start’ button.

Launch the visual builder

This will launch the drag and drop email builder.

You can simply select different elements from the menu on your left and place them on the template.

For instance, in the ‘Content’ tab, you can add columns, buttons, heading, menu, text, and more.

Add a heading block to email template

If you go to the ‘Body’ tab, then you can then further customize each element, like edit the text color, its alignment, font, size, and more.

Once you’re done, you can click the ‘Save’ button at the top.

Edit body of email

There’s even an option to send a test email to a given address and see what your WooCommerce emails will look like.

You can now repeat these steps and create as many custom WooCommerce emails as you want.

What makes Autonami really powerful is the custom goals driven email automation builder that shows you in-line analytics for each email.

Autonami Marketing Automation Email Analytics for WooCommerce

Autonami is a sister product to WooFunnels which is a powerful sales funnel builder for WooCommerce. You can use it to create a full sales funnel from start to finish and maximize your sales. It comes with prebuilt templates for custom checkout pages, order bumps, one-click upsells, and more.

WooFunnels Checkout Example

If you’re serious about growing your WooCommerce store, then Autonami is a must-have solution.

Bonus: Fix WooCommerce Email Not Sending Issue

Sending email directly from WordPress can lead to deliverability issues. That is because WordPress uses PHP mail() function to send an email and most web hosting companies don’t have it properly configured.

As a result, your WooCommerce emails don’t reach the recipients or end up in the spam folder. To fix this issue, you can use an SMTP service. SMTP or secure mail transfer protocol is a standard way to send emails and ensures that emails reach your customer’s inbox.

WP Mail SMTP is the best SMTP service for WordPress. It dramatically improves email deliverability and solves the problem of emails going missing or ending up in spam folders.

WP Mail SMTP is compatible with different mailers like Sendinblue, Amazon SES, Microsoft Outlook, Gmail, and more. Plus, it easily integrates with WooFunnels.

To connect WP Mail SMTP with WooFunnels, simply go to Autonami » Mail Setup from your WordPress dashboard.

After that, click the ‘Install’ button to install and activate WP Mail SMTP. Once installed, simply click the ‘Start Setup’ button and follow the onscreen instructions to configure the plugin.

Connect Autonami with WP Mail SMTP

You can follow our detailed guide on how to set up WP Mail SMTP with any host to get started.

How to Add a Wishlist to Your WooCommerce Store

Do you want to add a wishlist feature to your WooCommerce store?

A wishlist allows visitors to save their favorite products, so they can quickly find them later in your store and complete their purchase. It also makes it easy for your visitors to share their favorite items with friends and family as part of their wedding registry or another gift registry.

In this article, we’ll show you how to add a wishlist to your WooCommerce store.

Add a wishlist to your WooCommerce store

What Are Wishlists and Why Add Them in WooCommerce?

A wishlist lets your customers and guests save their favorite products on a list. It helps them to remember which products they want to buy in the future, so they can quickly find them later on your WooCommerce store.

Plus, customers can share their wishlists with their friends and family. This helps build brand awareness and increases traffic to your online store so you can boost sales.

Another benefit is that you get to see which products people add the most to their wishlists. To increase sales, you can then run promotional offers and discounts on popular wishlist products.

That said, let’s see how you can easily add a wishlist to the WooCommerce store.

Adding a Wishlist to Your WooCommerce Store

The best way of adding a wishlist to your WooCommerce store is by using a WordPress plugin like YITH WooCommerce Wishlist.

It’s a free WooCommerce plugin that lets your visitors save their favorite products to a wishlist and share them with their friends and family.

First, you’ll need to install and activate the YITH WooCommerce Wishlist plugin. For more details, please see our guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, you can head over to YITH » Wishlist from your WordPress dashboard and click on the ‘Add to wishlist options’ tab to configure the plugin.

After a product is added to your wishlist

The plugin will automatically add a ‘Add to wishlist’ link to each product that shoppers can click on to save items.

In the settings, you can select which link to show after a user adds a product to the wishlist. For instance, you can still display the ‘Add to wishlist’ button, or you can change the link to show the ‘View wishlist’ or ‘Remove from list’ options instead.

Next, you’ll see the Loop settings and Product page settings. You can choose where you’d like the ‘Add to wishlist’ button appear on the product page.

Wishlist loop settings

By default, it will be shown after the add to cart button. However, you can choose a different position by clicking the dropdown menu in front of the Position of “Add to wishlist” on product page option.

After that, simply scroll down and customize the text for your wishlist and edit the color and style of the add to wishlist button.

Change the text for add to wishlist button

Don’t forget to click the ‘Save Options’ button at the bottom of the page when you’re done.

Next, you can head to the ‘Wishlist page options’ tab.

The plugin will create a new page for wishlists on your WooCommerce store. If you prefer, you can select a different page from the Wishlist page dropdown menu instead or show wishlists on any page using the [yith_wcwl_wishlist] shortcode.

Wishlist page options

Next, you can now scroll down and select which details to show in the wishlist table.

For example, there are options to display product variations, the date on which the product was added to the wishlist, price, and more.

Details on wishlist page

You can even select social media channels on which people can share their wishlists, add custom text when the list is shared on social media, and more.

The plugin also offers settings to change the text and edit the style and color of the sharing button, social media channel buttons, and more.

When you’ve customized the wishlist page settings, don’t forget to click the ‘Save Options’ button to store your changes.

You can now visit your WooCommerce store and see the ‘Add to wishlist’ option on the product page under the Add to cart button.

Preview of add to wishlist button

When a user clicks the Add to wishlist link, they can then browse their wishlist and remove items or add to cart products from the list.

Besides that, the plugin also shows options to share the wishlist on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest or send the list via email and WhatsApp.

Browse your wishlist

Going Beyond Wishlists to Grow WooCommerce Sales

Now that you have added the wishlist feature to your WooCommerce store, you may want to further optimize it to boost sales and conversions.

We recommend using the WooFunnels plugin to optimize your WooCommerce checkout, add one-click upsells, and other marketing automation features.

WooFunnels Template Library
