In 2019, Google introduced Tiles, a feature for Wear OS enabled watches that gives users access to app widgets. Wear OS has struggled to gain footing in the marketplace with the lack of an available API keeping developers away. Now, however, Google may be preparing to release an official Tiles API to the AndroidX support library.
Google Adds Entity Extraction, Selfie Segmentation APIs to ML Kit
A few years back Google introduced ML Kit, an SDK that lets mobile developers add machine learning to their apps. Several months back Google released a standalone version of ML Kit which gave developers the ability to create AI-assisted apps directly on devices without requiring Firebase. Recently, Google announced two new APIs would be added to ML Kit, Entity Extraction and Selfie Segmentation.
APM Terminals Launches Truck Appointments API
APM Terminals, an international container terminal operating company, has launched the truck appointments API with the hope of improving its supply chain efficiency. At launch the API will have data for the API terminal in Los Angeles and plans are for data to become available for additional terminals in 2021.
