This year, Setapp talked to 701 developers from across the globe about app distribution, development, AI (yes, including ChatGPT), the impact of global events, and future plans.

This is why this year, for the first time ever, we conveyed a survey of user preferences in Mac apps. In this first-of-its-kind survey, we asked users about their preferences and app choices. I’d like to share these findings to help devs have a better understanding of user preferences and needs.
Every year since 2016, when I started working on Setapp — a platform now offering over 200 top Mac apps in a single subscription — we’ve conducted a comprehensive survey of Mac developers around the world to improve market perception and monitor emerging trends.
