Connecting 2 outers to the same CPU

Category Image 041

Hi, the DSL had intermittent problem. The service provider came and fixed the problem.

As a result of the brief problem, my Netgear N600 WIFI Range Extender ceased connecting to the Internet via WIFI DSL modem (internet light won't turn on). I have done all the requirements including factory reset, power off, etc. to no avail. My other wireless devices(cell phones) which use to operate normally with the Netgear are unable to communicate to the Netgear either.

My Desktop CPU has only 1 Ethernet port which I currectly use to connect the CPU to the DSL. I am unable to connect the Netgear to the CPU as well.

Please advise. Thank you.

Mixing broadband packages

Category Image 041

Sorry, but my question requires a long-winded explanation. Because of where we live, my wife and I cannot get decent broadband except through a satellite package which recently went down for two days. It leaves us totally isolated since the phone is also satellite and we get no mobile reception here either. So calling any technical support or anyone is almost impossible!! So we will get a landline installed but the basic broadband costs only marginally more and would be useful as back up when the satellite package goes down, though it's only 1- 5 Mb/s instead of 45 Mb/s. Rather than use wireless both my wife and I connect to our computers through Home Plugs which work well for us. My question is this. If both the landline broadband and satellite broadband are connected to a homeplug, what will I get when I connect my computer to my homeplug . . . a scrabbled mess or two distinct LAN connections that I can choose at random?

Does GeoIP ever change?

Category Image 041

We had a bug a little while back where we were accessing an old database for the GeoIP API.

That meant that, for users whose geolocation were mapped from their IP address, it was incorrect/unknown for IP subnets not in the database.

Now, 1-2 years later, can we go back and retroactively retrieve the correct location for each of those IP addresses with a more updated database? Or, is it possible, for example, that ISPs may recycle IP addresses across different cities/states?
